ROLE OF THE SPIRIT

Man is born with a spirit: a conscience to know what is right and wrong, as well as a desire to connect with his Creator-- or the Creator’s desire to be connected with man. In the course of his life, man may disregard the human conscience when he does evil or may even suppress his innate desire to know his Creator when he purposely turns away from him. The role of the spirit is to reconnect the mind with the Creator. The spirit, as opposed to materiality, is invisible but palpable, like the wind. It provides guidance, direction, and understanding for the mind not only to control the body in the form of love, joy, and peace but also to restrain the mind from its toxic desires and thoughts that will distance him from his Creator. The spirit is both the guardian and the go-between.

"Under his control all the different parts of the body fit together, and the whole body is held together by every joint with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love." (Ephesians 4:16-17)

SPIRIT FITNESS ESSENTIALS

Letting Go

Human life is full of clutters from the past, both emotional and material, especially negative feelings and emotions. Clutters are stumbling blocks to the enhancement of the spirit.  Attachment to emotional and material clutters annihilates the spirit.

Simplicity in Living

Simplicity in life accelerates the process of letting go, which promotes the spirit fitness. Simplicity enables you to live in the present moment, instead of dwelling on the past, or projecting those past experiences into the future in the form of desires or expectations. Practice simplicity in everyday living.

Love and Compassion

The spirit connects an individual not only to the Creator but also with other human beings. Therefore, it is also through love and compassion that an individual becomes connected to the Creator, and this inter-connection is expressed in loving-kindness, which originates from the Hebrew, meaning the love and kindness of the Creator.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Be mindful of self and others to understand the needs of others to sustain the spirit. Use meditation to reconnect with the spirit and intuit wisdom and guidance of the spirit.

"So get rid of your old self, which made you live as you used to --the old self that was being destroyed by its deceitful desires.23Your hearts and minds must be made completely new,24 and you must put on the new self, which is created in God's likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy." (Ephesians 4: 22-24)
